A phlebotomist is trained to collect blood samples in a variety of clinical situations. To succeed as a phlebotomist, it is important that you enjoy working with people who have a knack for detail and excellent craftsmanship. In addition, computer literacy is as important, because a lot of blood sample is processed with computers and sophisticated equipment.

Another factor to think about someone thinking about a career in phlebotomy is how worried they would always work around blood and needles. Phlebotomists must not only comfortable with needles and blood, they have the ability of a patient when they are blood, as patients often fear the process will still have. Although the environment will dictate the specific requirements of the job right, bloodletting may expect technicians to various functions in the normal course of their employment to carry out.
